Social Prescribing Vietnam (SPVN) is a Viet Nam-based platform advancing social prescribing and community-connected care through evidence, education, care navigation approaches, responsible implementation, research, evaluation and collaboration.

We bring together perspectives from healthcare, community support, research, education and international practice to explore what can work in Viet Nam, how it can be implemented responsibly, and how its impact can be understood over time.

Why We Exist

Health and well-being are shaped by more than clinical care. Social connection, living circumstances, financial pressures, transportation, caregiving, meaningful activity and access to community resources can all affect people's health and their ability to engage with care.

Social prescribing offers one way to build stronger connections between healthcare and appropriate non-clinical support. But there is no single model that can simply be transferred from one health system to another.

Viet Nam has its own healthcare structures, medical social work arrangements, communities, family networks, workforce, resources, culture and regulatory environment. SPVN exists to help build the knowledge, relationships, implementation capability and locally relevant evidence needed to develop these connections responsibly.

Our Focus

Together, these pillars focus on the practical interface between healthcare and community support, from understanding social needs and available resources to developing navigation pathways, implementing appropriate approaches and evaluating what works.

We begin with what matters to people — their priorities, strengths, circumstances, preferences and informed choices.

Evidence-Informed
We use the best available evidence while being clear about uncertainty, limitations and gaps in knowledge.

Locally Grounded
International experience can inform practice, but approaches should reflect Vietnamese systems, communities, culture, resources and implementation realities.

Collaborative
Meaningful implementation depends on relationships across healthcare, professional social work, community organizations, research, education, public institutions and other relevant sectors.

Responsible
Implementation should consider governance, professional boundaries, safety, equity, accessibility, consent, privacy, community capacity, accountability, measurement and continuous learning.

Governance & Independence

Social Prescribing Vietnam is currently founder-led and is being developed progressively as knowledge, partnerships and implementation experience grow in Viet Nam.

Our scientific and educational content draws on peer-reviewed research, authoritative guidance, applicable Vietnamese laws and regulations, and relevant international experience. We aim to distinguish established evidence from emerging findings and informed interpretation, and to communicate important uncertainty where it exists.

When external experts, organizations, funders or partners contribute to our work, their roles and relevant interests are identified where appropriate. Collaboration or financial support does not determine SPVN's scientific or educational positions.

SPVN does not represent or speak on behalf of any government agency, university, healthcare organization, professional association or international organization unless a formal relationship has been established and explicitly identified.

Social Prescribing Vietnam is developed and operated by VietnamWellcare Company Limited, a Viet Nam-registered company.

VietnamWellcare provides the operating and administrative base for SPVN, while SPVN maintains a dedicated focus on the responsible development of social prescribing and community-connected care in Viet Nam.
